DC Rajouri interacts with Imams, assesses their grievances
Seeks their active cooperation in COVID mitigation efforts

RAJOURI, July 20: To assess the issues and demands of the Imams, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan, convened a meeting with them here in his office chamber. Among the others, ADDC, Pawan Kumar and Administrator Auqaf Shadrasharif, Tahir Mustafa Malik attended the meeting.
A number of issues pertaining to the Ulmas/Imams including low wages, encroachment of Auqaf land, proper development and maintenance of Ziarats besides other related issues and demands were raised during the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing and assured them that all their genuine concerns would be redressed in a time bound manner.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the Imams to bring in the notice of the Auqaf Administration if there is encroachment of the Auqaf land so that the same can be evicted at the earliest for the larger public benefit.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the contribution of the Ulmas/ Imams in the efficient containment and management of COVID19 in the district and urged upon them to continue the same zeal in future to further mitigate the pandemic in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner sought the cooperation of Ulmas in maintaining covid appropriate behavior during the upcoming Eid Ul Azha festival by ensuring social distancing and limited gatherings anywhere in the district.
