RAJOURI, July 20: To celebrate the 75 years of India's Independence, a series of activities are being organised in the country under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
As a part of these activities, the District Administration Rajouri today organised an awareness programme on National Generic Document Registration System and Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN).
The event was organised here in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bungalow which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh K Shavan.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Tahir Mustafa Malik and Tehsildar Rajouri, Mohd Rafeeq, ADIO NIC, Ashwini Sharma, other revenue officers and officials besides people from different sections of the society including prominent citizens, Sarpanches, panches participated in the event.
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.
During the programme, a detailed light was thrown on the importance of the event and the participants were made aware of the benefits of The National Generic Document Registration System and Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN).
The National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) marks a major shift from the existing manual registration system to online registration for transactions in the sale or purchase of land.
The NGDRS represents a major shift from the existing manual registration system to online registration of all transactions in sale-purchase/transfer of land and the stamp papers have been replaced by e-stamps which have been incorporated in coordination with the Stockholding Corporation of India.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said that the launching of NGDRS is a big step towards national integration and a leap towards 'One Nation, One Software'.
"It is an ambitious project to provide digital land titling guarantee to the landholders of Jammu and Kashmir has been launched by the UT government by floating Request For Proposal in Public Domain under Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme", he added.
The Deputy Commissioner also said that digitisation of land records is a critical first step in addressing this issue as it lays the foundation for the creation of a more accurate and comprehensive property record that can with appropriate database linkages be updated in real-time.
The Deputy Commissioner made the participants aware of the benefits of digitisation of land records saying that the same would help the citizens to efficiently maintain their land records and eliminate corruption.
An online lecture on the subject was also organised during the event where experts deliberated upon the benefits of the National Generic Document Registration System and Unique Land Parcel Identification Number and threw light on the benefits of digitisation of land records.
