KISHTWAR, July 20: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma today extended warm greetings to the people of district Kishtwar on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and appealed to the people to continue the use of face masks and adherence to Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and follow other instructions to prevent the resurgence of the Covid.
The Deputy Commissioner was addressing media persons at the weekly press briefing on Covid scenario in the district, here in his office Chamber.
The Deputy Commissioner said that 37 new cases have been reported this week, taking the number of total active cases in the district to 59. He said the positivity rate has declined to 0.46% which is a good sign but at the same time there is a need to be carefull as the threat is not over yet.
He said that the virus continues to exist in the society particularly in the countryside areas from where cases are still being reported.
He further informed that during the second surge out of 1851 positive cases, 1776 have recovered till date.
He informed that out of 59 cases, only 4 patients are admitted in hospital and the rest are in home isolation under government supported medical supervision.
Regarding vaccination, the Deputy Commissioner revealed that the maximum number of people above 45 year and above have been vaccinated in the district, while 5349 persons in the 18-44 year age group were vaccinated this week . The Test, Trace, Treat strategy along with Tikka abhiyan is being followed in the district, he said.
The DC said following Covid appropriate behaviour and vaccination are the only tools to defeat the pandemic. He appealed to the people not to lower the guard against the Covid pandemic and offer the Eid prayers in home for the safety of their family.
