COVID: J&K admin relaxes ceiling on indoor, outdoor gatherings on ID | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 8: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday temporarily relaxed the prevailing COVID-induced ceiling for indoor and outdoor gatherings for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in the Union Territory. However, the relaxation has been given subject to adherence to COVID Appropriate Behaviour. “After conducting the overall assessment of the situation pertaining to the spread of COVID-19 in J&K, it was observed that there was a need to continue with the existing COVID-19 containment measures given the uneven trend in the incidence of daily fresh cases,” read an order, issued by Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta in his capacity as the Chairman of the State Executive Committee of the Department of Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction. The order said that the maximum number of people permitted to attend any indoor or outdoor gathering shall be restricted to 25. “However, this ceiling shall be temporarily relaxed on August 15 only on account of Independence Day celebrations, subject to COVID Appropriate Behaviour to be ensured by all District Magistrates,” it added. It further said that there shall be no weekend curfew in any district though night curfew will continue to remain in force across the UT from 2000 hrs and 0700 hrs. All District Magistrates have been asked to intensify testing by making optimum use of available RT-PCR and RAT capacities. |
