| Drug peddler arrested, huge cache of contraband recovered in Budgam | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 8: A drug peddler was on Sunday arrested alongwith 103 bottles of Codeine phosphate in central Kashmir district of Budgam.
A police official said that following specific information, a checkpoint was established at Wadwan in Budgam.
“Police intercepted a vehicle at the checkpoint and during checking recovered 103 bottles of codeine phosphate,” he said.
He said the driver of the vehicle, identified as Syed Irfan-ul-Haq, was immediately taken into custody.
The vehicle used for Commission of the crime has also been seized.
He said a case FIR number 244/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation taken up.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood,” he said, adding persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” he added. |
