PDP stages protest against price hike, other public issues | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Aug 17: The activists of PDP staged a protest demonstration in front of DC Office Complex against rising prices of petroleum products, price hike of daily commodities, increasing unemployment, and other common problems being faced by public. The protesters under the leadership of PDP District President Jagdeep Singh Jagga, raising slogans and holding placards demanded UT regime to give an ear to public voice. Jagdeep Singh alleging Union government for increasing the hardships of the poor public highlighted that how petrol and diesel prices are rising and hitting the century mark 100 per litre. He further said that the whole country is witnessing spiraling rise in the rates of petrol and diesel even amidst this Covid pandemic. The historic and unsustainable rise of fuel price is happening at a time when the citizens are reeling under the impact of Covid-19 second wave. "This is an example of excessive public loot facilitated by Central Government," he said, adding that even the UT regime is also not worried regarding the problems of people. He demanded issuing e-passes for Kathua people for hassle free to and fro movement at Lakhanpur border. Jagdeep Singh alleging interference of mining mafia in price hike of mining products demanded UT governance to finalize a policy and fix prices of related material so that the poor can construct their houses. PDP District General Secretary Vinod Gupta said that common people are badly hit by inflation, and unemployment. He alleged that the industrialists from outer states install industries in UT for their personal interests and do no6t follow the MOU of employment for locals. Later, the protesters met with DC Rahul Yadav and handed over a demand charter for LG Manoj Sinha. |
