AAP Jammu youth wing holds protest against Irrigation, Power Departments
8/20/2021 10:21:14 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 20: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), youth wing Jammu, held a peaceful protest against Irrigation & PDD Departments at Press Club Jammu today.
The protest was led by Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha youth president Sunny Kant Chib and District youth president Sansar Singh along with Sr. AAP leaders Rajesh Bali, Om Prakash Sharma, Ram Pal Khajuria, NP Singh, Rahil Mahajan and Hassan Malik. The AAP youth leaders expressed great resentment for acute, shortage of water in Ranbir canal at its tail ends, erratic power supply and regular power cuts have further compounded the miseries of farmers by interrupting working of water pumps. They said that unscheduled long power cuts in RS Pura and Bishnah areas, leading to non-running of water pumps of the farmers which has aggravated hardships of farmers coupled with dry Ranbir Canal channels. The AAP, Jammu youth leaders have urged upon the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and other concerned authorities to look into the matter compassionately and personally to mitigate the sufferings of farmers and the student community of border areas of RS Pura and Bishnah.
They further expressed wonder as to how Delhi Government led by Kejriwal, having no source to generate a single unit of electricity, is providing free uninterrupted power to the public up to 200 units. But the present dispensation here in J&K, instead of meeting the requirement of local population is providing around 80% of power to the Northern Grid for distribution among northern states out of around 2250 Mega watts of electricity through Salal, Baglihar and Dul-Hasti mega power projects of Jammu region showing utter bankruptcy of sensitiveness, sincerity and judicial wisdom, they said.
