EARLY TIMES REPORT

SAMBA, Aug 20: The dilapidated condition of under construction Samba to Sumb Gorran road in district Samba is adding to the woes of local residents. Despite the huge outcry by the locals against the bad condition of the road, it remains the same.
With no appropriate action visible on ground, the condition of the incomplete road being constructed under CRF has worsened further over the last few years.
Local residents including Naresh Sharma, Yash Pal, Pankaj Sharma, Pintoo Kumar, Sunil Dutt and several others while speaking to Early Times complained that no steps were initiated to complete the construction of the 10 kilometres long first phase of the road, which began in 2018, adding that more than 40,000 population of Sumb Gorran Block has no option other than to commute through the pot-holed road to reach their respective destinations.
“Several mishaps have occurred due to the dilapidated condition of the road. It is quite hard to negotiate big pot holes. It is also difficult to differentiate between the muddy road and the drain,” said a resident.
“For the past few months, the condition of the road has become more pathetic. Not just for buses, it becomes difficult even for light motor vehicles to negotiate through the stretch,”he added.
Another local said that it is a major route used by residents, especially office-goers, and children, and for emergency hospital cases.
“The pathetic condition of the road has been same for the last several months now. Although many pleas were made in the past, nothing has happened to complete it. It is really sad to note that a main route like this is continually being ignored by the authorities,” said the local, who frequents this route.
Locals urged the Lieutenant
Governor and district administration to direct the concerned department to complete the remaining work of the road at the earliest so that people could heave a sigh of relief.
