GHSS, Chandwan named after Vir Chakra awardee | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Aug 27: As per the resolve of J&K UT administration to rename the government schools after the Indian Army Soldiers, CRPF men and JK Police personnel martyred while serving the Nation, District Administration Kathua renamed Government Higher Secondary Chandwan after Vir Chakra Awardee Martyr Bua Ditta Singh during a brief ceremony held in the school premises, on Friday. The ceremony was held in presence of DDC Vice Chairperson Raghunandan Singh, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav, DDC member Marheen Karan Attri, Sarpanchs, Panchs and members of civil society. The Government Higher Secondary School has been renamed as Shaheed Bua Ditta Singh Government Higher Secondary School, Chandwan. It is pertinent to mention here that Sepoy Bua Ditta Singh S/o Omkar Singh R/o Thakurpura, Marheen laid down his life in Chiri Koti (Poonch) on 16th of August 1948 while fighting with enemies. The DC said the initiative of renaming schools after the name of Martyr soldiers was aimed at to remember the valour and courage of the son of the soil who attained martyrdom while protecting the motherland, especially when Nation is celebrating 75 years of Independence as 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' He said the statue of Shaheed would be installed as per the suggestions of the people and martyrs day will also be observed every year. In his address, the DDC Vice Chairman Raghunandan Singh said that renaming of the schools after the valiant soldiers is a great tribute to the martyrs as they will be remembered for ages to come. This Initiative of The UT Government will promote patriotism and Nationalism among the young generation, he added. |
