Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 27: Except for spending a huge amount from the exchequer of the cash-starved J&K government, authorities have done nothing to face the challenge of the possible third wave of the deadly Coronavirus.
On the one hand, the government has flowing funds worth crores on the advertisement to ‘fight’ the deadly virus while on the ground nothing concrete has been done.
The government through its advertisement is asking the people to get themselves vaccinated while as in the vaccination centres doses are not available in the vaccination centres.
Most of the vaccination centres are facing a shortage of the vaccine due to delay in supply of vaccine in these centres especially set-up of immunization.
For the last two days, people are facing hardship in different areas of the Samba district due to the non-availability of the vaccine.
As per data available, till August 25, authorities have failed to inoculate the first dose to even all health workers across Jammu and Kashmir. Till August 25, out of a total of 1,22,332 HCW, only 104,968 have been administered the first dose of the vaccine.
Only 72, 157 have been administered both doses which is a clear indication that only 59 percent registered HCW has administered both doses. The same is the status of Front Line Workers (FLWs). As per official data, out of a total of 3,59,542 FLWs across the Union Territory, only 2,19,681 (61 percent) have administered both the doses of Corona vaccine.
Till August 25, only 15 percent of the population above the age group of 18 years and above have administered both doses of Coronavirus. While estimating the total population of the age group of 18 years and above as 9,303,842 only 1,437,886 (total 15 percent) have administered both doses of vaccine.
Three days back, 16 MBBS students of the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda were tested positive, which is a dangerous sign.
