GDC Chatroo celebrates National Sports Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 29: To observe the “National Sports Day” the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Government Degree College (GDC) Chatroo organized a day long National level webinar in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Kala Mahavidyalya (IGKM), Maharashtra. The theme of the event was “Recent Trends in Sports Injuries, their Prevention and Management”. The webinar was organised under the aegis of IQAC of both the institutions and the guidance of Dr Ashiq Hussain Principal GDC Chatroo and Dr SV Agarkar, Principal IGKM, Raleogaon, Maharashtra. The webinar started with the formal welcome address by Dr Kiran Pawar, Director Physical Education and Sports IGKM, Maharashtra followed by introduction of speakers by Prof SV Samarth. Dr Jaswant Singh, Physical Director GDC Chatroo and Dr Viraj Pandey EFLI coach and physiotherapist from Mumbai were the keynote speakers of the webinar. Dr Jaswant in his presentation spoke about various sports injuries and stressed upon the fact that injury prevention should be an important part of every physical activity because it not only helps us to achieve our training goals but also keeps us healthy and safe. Dr Viraj Pandey in his speech highlighted the concept of physiotherapeutic management and rehabilitation of sports injuries. He also explained advanced training and various methods of fitness development. Towards the end the participants interacted with the experts and their queries were nicely responded by both the experts. Dr Ashiq Hussain, I/C Principal GDC Chatroo on the occasion appreciated the views put forward by the experts and underscored the need to organise such events in future too. He also appreciated the efforts of the IQAC Coordinator Dr Jamshed Ahmad for working on improving the quality parameters of the institution. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Jamshed Ahmad.
