Vishal Khatri Sabha hails Govt for renaming schools, roads after martyrs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 5: Vishal Khatri Sabha (VKS) J&K today hailed J&K government for renaming 75 schools and 75 roads after martyrs from security forces to celebrate 75 years of Independence. In a meeting held at Jammu, VKS President, Devender Seth also welcomed initiatives of Union Territory for submitting a regional ‘Rajya Geet’ in Kashmiri and Dogri languages personifying J&K’s contributions and aspirations. Seth said that step to rename schools was a small token of gratitude to pay tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed their lives fighting for the country, welfare and progress of our nation. This decision of the J&K government has delighted the families of martyrs and residents of the area. He further stated that this step taken by the government to honour them is truly commendable. He demanded that more roads and schools should be named after great martyrs Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, and Chandrashekhar Azad so that future generations remember them. He said the country is celebrating 75th Year of Independence as ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ and renaming the landmarks after martyrs or other renowned personalities will be an effort to remember and honour their valued contribution made for the country. He said Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav provides a great opportunity to recognise and honour our heroes who made the country proud. |
