R S PURA, Sept 5: International Taekwondo player and coach, Atul Pangotra has started a two-day Self Defence Training Camp aiming at those orphan and poor inmates of Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan, R S Pura, here. The initiative to reach out to those young inmates of Bal Ashram was taken by Department of Social Welfare in association with J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA) and supported by Korean Cultural Centre. On the opening day, Atul, who served with Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), introduced the game of Taekwondo to the inmates and then imparted basic training of fitness and self defence. The camp was formally declared open by District Social Welfare Officer, Jammu, Ajay Salan. Speaking to the gathering, he asked Atul and his team to reach out to every inmate of Jammu district by taking similar camps at all such Ashrams. He also witnessed the skill demonstrations by the campers and then awarded them for their exceptional skills and fitness abilities. Earlier, Superintendent Bal Ashram, R S Pura and Saroj Bala, Superintendent of Nari Niketan introduced the participants with the district officer. “During the two-day training camp, these young boys and girls shall be imparted basics of the game of Taekwondo and other fitness techniques,” said Atul Pangotra. Organising secretary of the JKTA, Anuj Sharma informed about the activities of the Association in the Union Territory of J&K. Atul was supported by Nitish Anand and Rohit Sharma. |
