BJP leader Randhawa persuades Secretary Education to enhance 200 seats in every stream | Class 12th pass-outs' fate hangs in limbo | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 27: Senior BJP leader and former legislator Vikram Randhawa on Monday called on commissioner secretary education BK Singh at Srinagar and urged him to enhance the seats in colleges affiliated with Jammu University and Cluster University of Jammu for their higher studies. Randhawa met Singh in his office at Srinagar on Monday and apprised him about the entire issue. It may be stated here that students despite securing 80 percent to 90 percent marks in their 12th class exams were not getting admissions in colleges affiliated with Jammu University and Cluster University of Jammu. "I apprised the commissioner secretary about hardships being faced by the students and persuaded him to enhance at least 200 seats in every stream of every college affiliated with Jammu University and Cluster University of Jammu," he said. The commissioner secretary also realized the hardships of the students, who have just passed their class 12 exams but are not getting admissions in colleges, he said. "The commissioner secretary assured to take up the matter with lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha and agreed that the students shouldn't suffer. I suggested him that the colleges can be run in double shifts to accommodate the students. We cannot afford to waste their one academic year. Covid 19 has already affected studies of our children badly," said Randhawa. On Friday angry students protested outside the Press Club on Friday and burnt copies of their marksheets. They said that even after registering online, they were denied admissions. |
