| GDC Majalta celebrates Green Consumer day | | |

Jammu, Sept 27: Eco-club Gambir and Department of Environmental Sciences, Govt. Degree college Majalta celebrated Green Consumer day under the patronage of worthy principal Prof.(Dr.) B.B Anand. Green Consumer Day is celebrated globally on 28th Sept every year to develop awareness among consumers regarding the environment.
A webinar was organized to illuminate students about green consumerism under the auspices of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Dr B.B Anand, Principal of the college welcomed the resource person for sparing her valuable time for the vibrant activity. He said that in the modern world consumerism itself is emerging as a threat to the peaceful world order because emphasis is given on mass production and consumption which ultimately creates tons and tons of waste daily all over the world. So we must explore ways and means to tackle this problem.
Ms Radhika Sharma, Development officer at RUDA and Program Coordinator at Volunteer organization Disha was the resource person. She spoke at length on green consumerism. She explained different means to be inculcated in life to practice green consumerism.
Dr Neha Sharma, HOD Environmental Sciences and Convenor Eco-club Gambir coordinated the whole programme. She accentuated the principles of refuse, reduce and reuse in life to move on the path of green consumerism.
Students actively participated and showed keen interest in the webinar.
The programme ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr Parveen Kumari, HoD, and Department of Hindi. |
