Dr Raghav unveils statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Divisional Commissioner’s office complex

JAMMU, Oct 2: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi Ji in his office complex to mark Gandhi Jayanti celebration under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
The Divisional Commissioner along with Officers and officials also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi Ji by garlanding his statue.
Speaking on the occasion, the Div Com threw light on the life history of Bapu Ji and said that his life itself was a message. He said that the occasion is celebrated all over India as a national festival. He stressed that the message of Mahatma Gandhi is becoming more relevant with every passing day.
He impressed upon the staff to imbibe the Gandhian Philosophy/ thoughts, teachings in their day to day life to lead a peaceful life. He also highlighted the philosophy of non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi and its importance in leading a progressive and prosperous life.
Dr Langer recalled that Gandhi ji always said that real India (Bharat) lives in villages and on the same line Government of Jammu and Kashmir has started campaigns like block Divas to listen to the grievances of rural people and redress the same at their doorsteps.
While quoting Gandhi Ji’s message of work is worship, the Div Com said following his teachings is a real tribute to Gandhi Ji.
On the ocassion, cultural performances were also presented by the artists of J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages.
Additional Commissioners, Assistant Commissioner Central, Revenue Attorney, and other officers and officials of Div Com office were also present.
Referring to the Swachta, a campaign under the ‘Clean India Programme’ launched by the Government of India from October 1, 2021 to October 31, 2021, he urged everyone to be part of this movement to create better living conditions in the villages, towns and cities.
Pertinently, the UT of J&K has also chalked out a detailed calendar of activities for the month long campaign.
The Div Com has also issued a circular directing all the Heads of Departments, Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division to chalk out the “Clean India Campaign” activities with special focus on creating an environment of cleanliness in the entire district as cleanliness is a great service to the Nation. The campaign calls for involvement of all segments of society, Government Organizations, PRIs and NGOs to instill awareness and feeling of pride among citizens to keep their surroundings clean and waste free and to make the program as people’s movement through Jan Bhagidari.
The Key activities of the program are collection and disposal of waste, village beautification, cleanliness of water bodies, IEC awareness campaigns etc.
