LG, bureaucrats can’t oppress people, says Mahajan Sabha leader | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 2: Former president of Mahajan Sabha, Romesh Gupta on Saturday said that no one, including the Lieutenant Governor and the bureaucrats around him, can oppress the people and they have to run the system as per the prescribed norms of the society. Gupta, while paying rich tributes to the renowned social reformer Lala Hans Raj on his birth anniversary, said, “Lalaji had taught us that we are Dogras and we have follow the spirit of Duggar Pradesh. He always preached inclusiveness.” Gupta said, “We Mahajans are progressive class and are determined to fight the excesses of our rulers, including the Lieutenant Governor, Commissioner Secretaries and others. They should realize that they cannot just enforce their writ on people forcibly. They have to work for the welfare of the people and the society. They cannot suppress the people. They cannot do what they want they have to do what people want.” It’s in place to mention here that the members of Mahajan, Khatri and Sikh communities have been demanding revocation of the discriminatory land law, which prevents these communities from buying and selling the agricultural land. |
