| Citizens Forum urges LG to re-introduce Mid Day Meals scheme | | |

JAMMU, Oct 2: Citizens Forum has requested LG Manoj Sinha to re-introduce the Mid Day Meals scheme after the Covid-19 pandemic for school children. The Forum said that no contractor as proposed by any public leader or officer of the government should be given the responsibility of supplying and providing cooked food to school children. The Forum said that in the past it was seen that looting of simple food meant for poor children of schools has been observed. Forum President R K Chadha said in previous BJP/ PDP government it demanded to increase the standard of food cooked and supplied that was so un-hygienic and poor in quantity and quality against other states of better high calories food. The Forum said that contractors were providing 150 calories food only while as the ration received in the name of Mid Day Meals sold in the market was a regular feature. The Forum suggested that 800 calories food should be given to the school children but the same fell on deaf years. |
