ADDC Kupwara visits Jumagund to take stock of winter preparedness

KUPWARA, Oct 17: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Kupwara, Altaf Ahmad Khan Saturday visited border area Jumagund of Kupwara district to take stock of winter preparedness by various departments and hear the problems of the people in the far flung area.
During the visit, the ADDC convened a public darbar at Jumangund in which officers, PRIs and senior citizens, besides, people in large numbers participated.
On the occasion, local PRIs and senior citizens apprised the chair about various developmental issues facing the population of the area. The ADDC heard their issues patiently and passed on spot directions to the concerned officers for redressal of the issues raised.
Later, the ADDC convened a separate meeting of officers and took a detailed review of progress of various departments in the area. The departments reviewed include PDD, Health, Education, RDD, PMGSY, Food, Agriculture, Horticulture, ICDS, Animal and Sheep Husbandry. The ADDC stressed upon the officers to work with added dedication and ensure all necessary amenities are provided to the people of the far flung area of Jumangund which remains cut off for most of the months from the rest of the district.
Reviewing the Food supplies, the ADDC was informed that 1150 quintal rice is presently dumped in the area to feed the local people during the winter months. The ADDC directed the concerned officer to dump an additional supply of Aatta and sugar before the onset of winter in the area. Regarding snow clearance, the ADDC directed the Executive Engineer PMGSY to ensure availability of men and machinery for timely snow clearance in the area during upcoming winter season so that the people of Jumangund shall not face any inconvenience. The ADDC also directed the concerned BMO to station a doctor in the local sub centre on a regular basis during the winter period so that people are provided with essential medical aid locally. Reviewing the power sector, the ADDC directed the concerned engineer to speed up the repair of damaged conductors in the area to ensure restoration of power supply as early as possible. Among others, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Tehsildar Trehgam, BDO Qadirabad, BMO, Executive Engineer PMGSY, AEE KPDCL Trehgam and other concerned attended the meeting.
