| Duplicity of J&K administration: Pandemic threats only for religious function not for political rallies | | |

Jammu, Oct 17: On the second successive year, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir denied permission for Dusshsera celebrations across the Union Territory (UT), taking excuse of the pandemic.
Ironically, authorities for the last one month have been permitting political rallies as well as other official functions across the UT. But when comes to the question of allowing religious functions, authorities take an adamant stand and usually denied permission in the name of the pandemic.
It is widely believed that permission of Dussehra was denied as part of the nefarious designs of some selective Babus to spoils the business of the people of Jammu for supporting the nationalist cause. For the last six months, these ‘selective Babus’ have been taking one after another step to bulldoze the business of the people of Jammu with one or another excuse. Every year during Dussehra celebrations across the UT thousands of people sell small items but for the second successive year, they were denied chances to earn something. Interestingly, the excuse of the pandemic was given to deny Dussehra permission but the same yardstick was not adopted in case of political rallies. For the last one and half months, political rallies are going unabated across the UT. Leaders of all political parties are addressing these rallies without following COVID norms but no action has been taken so far against any political parties. Similarly, publicity exercises of the government are going interrupted for the last two months. People are forced to attend these publicity stunts without caring for their health. |
