GCW Udhampur organises AIDS awareness programme

Udhampur, Oct 20: Red Ribbon Club of Govt. College for Women in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society organized a series of events under 2nd phase of Implementation of new India @75 campaign under ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ w.e.f 12-10-2021 to 20-10-2021.
These events were organized under the able guidance of worthy Principal, Prof Minu Mahajan and the convenorship of Dr. Kewal Kumar, Assistant Professor of Botany. Worthy Principal of the college, Prof. Minu Mahajan appreciated the efforts of the concerned teachers for their initiative and guidance to encourage and inspire the students for participating in different events and expressing their artistic talents. She also appreciated all the participants and also congratulated the winners.
On 12th of October the awareness campaign was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) Govt. of India and National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar, Minister of State, Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India was the chief guest.
The launch event was attended by all the members of RRC and the faculty of college.
On 13th of October, RRC of GCW organized a promotional self video recording competition on AIDS awareness.
A large number of students had participated in the competition in which they recorded self videos on different themes related to HIV/AIDS including HIV awareness, talk on HIV, HIV prevention, HIV stigma, HIV testing, no HIV stigma etc. All the videos were very informative and message oriented. The competition was judged by Dr. Kewal Kumar, Assistant Professor of Botany, Prof. Sumita Rao, Assistant professor of Zoology and Prof. Tania Mahajan, Assistant professor of Zoology. On the basis of judgement of jury members, Miss Neena Devi of Sem-V, Miss Shreya Sharma of Sem-V and Miss Vishakha Gandotra of sem-III adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Miss Rakshanda of Sem-III got consolation prize in the competition.
