GDC Ramgarh organises awareness programme on HIV

Samba, Oct 20: Red Ribbon Club, Govt. Degree College Ramgarh in Collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society organized a series of programmes under 2nd phase of Implementation of New India @75 campaign under ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ w.e.f 12-10-2021 to 20-10-2021. The events were organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College. Dr. Sandeep Kumar & Prof. Risha Kumari, Nodal Officers, Red Ribbon Club organized the whole events meticulously.
On 12 October 2021, GDC Ramgarh participated in the launch event of 2nd phase of New India @75 under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The Awareness Campaign was virtually launched by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) Govt. of India and National AIDS Control Organization (NACO). Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State, Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India was Chief Guest.
On 13 October 2021, An Awareness Programme on HIV was initiated by the College.
The Resource Person was Dr. Radhu (B.A.M.S), presently posted in HWC Rarian. She delivered a lecture on the HIV awareness and made the students aware about the prevention and care of the disease.
The Resource person for the second session was Dr. Hari Slathia, HWC Swankha. She in her lecture promoted access to a set of effective HIV prevention and care interventions. On 16 October 2021, Poster making competition on TB Awareness was organized. Students made colorful posters spreading awareness about the deadliest infectious disease i.e. TB.
On 18 October 2021, Slogan writing competition on Blood Donation was organized. A Large number of students participated and made the general public aware about the benefits of Blood Donation.
On 20 October 2021, Mask making competition on the theme COVID-19 was organized. Students participated in the contest with zeal and enthusiasm.
Amanpreet Kour, B.A.Sem.III secured first position; Avinash Kour, Sem III bagged the second prize; Tinuja Choudhary, B.A. Sem III clinched the third prize.
Speaking on the Occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal of the college said that the aim of this campaign is to engage youth for spreading awareness about TB, HIV and AIDS.
She congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee.
