Dogra Front & Shiv Sena demands compensation for farmers' losses | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 27: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of their president Ashok Gupta took out a rally in Jammu city demanding compensation for farmers as there crop has been completely distorted due to the hailstorm which uprooted everything. The blowing of strong winds, rainfall and hailstorm in Samba, RS Pura has damaged standing crops and vegetables causing massive financial loss to them as a delegation of farmers from both the areas visited Ashok Gupta at his residence. He said that the losses are huge and could have also caused similar damages in other districts of Jammu province. He, therefore, demanded that the govt should constitute teams in respective districts to make assessment of the losses suffered by the farmers and accordingly, appropriate compensation should be given to the farmers so that they can overcome the financial losses they suffered. "These incidents of crop and vegetable damage should be treated as natural calamities," he demanded. The compensation in such matters should not be delayed, he said and demanded that the immediate compensation will provide relief to the farmers. He said that the govt should waive off the KCC loans and electricity charges as the farmers are not in a position to pay the installments of the loan or electricity charges. The party people who were present at the time of rally were Kimti Jatt, Nirmal Kumar, Prem, Kalu, Ashish, Abhishek, Naresh, Ram Pal and others were present. |
