Vigilance Awareness Week: ACB organises inter-school Symposia on Corruption

KATHUA, Nov 1: Under its series of Vigilance Awareness Week events, Anti Corruption Bureau, Jammu today organised an inter-school Symposium on the topic 'Role & Responsibilities of a Citizen in fighting Corruption.'
The theme of this year's Vigilance Awareness Week is Independent India @ 75, Self Reliance with Integrity.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Atul Gupta was the Chief Guest.
The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the Chief Guest followed by reciting of Saraswati vandana by school students
Eleven students of four different schools participated in the symposia and spoke on various facets of corruption, role of the society in curbing and suggestive proactive measures to root out the menace.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Atul Gupta (ADC Kathua) appreciated the participating students for their thought provoking views on the subject and covering all dimensions of the problem of corruption. He said a society has collective responsibility to discourage the practise of alluring someone by offering consideration for personal gains. He informed that several e-governance initiatives have been taken to bring transparency in the government offices which will surely lower corruption cases with time. He appreciated the Anti Corruption Bureau for taking up its awareness drive into schools and colleges which he said, will have a positive impact on the moral quotient of the young generation.
Inspector Kamal Sangra gave a brief introduction about the functioning of ACB and elaborated on the corrupt practices of some government functionaries. He also gave a powerpoint presentation on the topic and educated the participants about the ultimate impact of corruption on the Nation's economy.
A three member expert team judged the symposium.
A Vigilance Pledge was also administered to the participants during the event.
