J&K Bank security guards get Diwali gift, salaries slashed
‘Give us poison, it will end poverty forever’
11/1/2021 11:08:33 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 1: Ahead of Diwali, J&K people got yet another gift as the ATM guards working with J&K Bank for the past many years have been told that their salaries have been slashed.
The security guards took to the streets on Monday to express their resentment against the decision of the company that has taken the contract.
According to the details available with Early Times the contract to provide the security to J&K Bank ATMs has been taken over by a new company and it has decided to slash the salaries of these guards.
The guards said, “Earlier J&K Bank had given a contract to Chandigarh based ‘Para-Green’ Company. The Para Green Company was paying us anything between Rs 7,500 to Rs 11000/ per month. Now, we have been told that our salaries will be between Rs 5000/ to Rs 7000/. This is sheer injustice.”
They said, “Instead of providing us with an increment, they are slashing our salaries.”
Protesters said that inflation has increased and prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed.
“We have no idea about how we will manage our families. Permanent government employees get an increment every year.
We are poor people and it’s unfortunate that we are being victimized,” protesters said, adding that “They should give us poison. It will help them in ending poverty forever.” They urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and come for their rescue.
