Nurses Training Programme on covid 3rd wave among children organized | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 1: A nationwide training programme for nursing professionals was organized to prepare them for the ensuing 3rd wave of Covid-19 among children. On behalf of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India, it was coordinated by Associate Professor Pushpa Oraon, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, Kakryal. Maj Gen SK Sharma, AVSM, Board Member, SMVD Shrine Board & Chairman, Governing Body, SMVD College of Nursing was the chief guest for the training programme. He complemented the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for taking proactive action and training nursing professionals all over the country. As the vaccine against Covid-19 for children is yet to be finalized, he warned all the participants to be extra cautious and take all precautions besides spreading the preventive actions among parents. 216 nursing professionals from J&K, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, UP, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Kerala and Chandigarh participated in this training programme. Dr Rathi Balachanderan, Additional Director General, MOHFW, Govt of India informed all that adequate fund support has been catered for training all the nursing staff as well as for spreading awareness among the public in the complete country. Prof (Dr) Mehmooda Regu, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipur was the Guest of Honour who shared her experiences during 1st and 2nd waves of Covid and their health impacts in J&K. Dr Sandhya Gupta, Former Principal and Associate Professor at AIIMS New Delhi was the chairperson for this training programme. She discussed the need of the training at national level and dwelled on the methodology to enhance the standard of nursing professionals in taking care of all the paediatric issues pertaining to Covid-19. Pushpa Oraon, Associate Professor, SMVD College of Nursing, Kakryal, who is the Mentor on behalf of Govt of India, executed the training session as its organizing secretary. The programme ended with the post-test and feedback from the participants. This was the first training programme for Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh union territories under MoHFW Govt. India. |
