Unemployed medicos a concern
11/2/2021 10:37:27 PM

Homeopathic doctors have claimed that they have been jobless for the past one decade. Prior to them the dental surgeons were staging protests on streets and demanding jobs. In the recent past medicos have been making attempts to get heard to get employed. The medicos being unemployed is a grave concern and it needs to be addressed.
The government has been formulating policies to help the job seekers but the number of jobless youth swelling with each passing day has made things difficult. Employment has always been a big issue in Jammu and Kashmir. During the erstwhile political regimes, the political parties that used to come into power worked with an agenda to provide jobs to their workers. The daily wager jobs were distributed among the grass root workers to keep them happy. To get a government job without a recommendation was a difficult task during the tenure of Kashmir based politicians.
After J&K’s transition into a Union Territory, people were hoping that things would change. To an extent the change is visible as the recruitment process has become transparent. But still a lot needs to be done.
For the first time in the past seventy years a written test was held in Jammu and Kashmir to fill the Class-IV vacancies. On the other hand Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board too has been advertising the posts and the process is on to provide jobs. But the problem is that the number of unemployed youth is huge and the unemployment rate is increasing.
The J&K administration has been claiming that investors are being motivated to invest in the Union Territory and new job avenues are being created but nothing much is visible on the ground.
People in Jammu are unhappy as their businesses have been hit. Most of them are of the opinion that they are not being taken on board and they are being ignored. They are stating that their voices are not being heard.
There are many issues that are confronting the people and need to be addressed. Doctors are the cream of the society and what matters is not their stream, what counts is that after completing their degrees in any system of medicine they can serve the people and humanity. They need to be treated with respect. The government needs to make an attempt to accommodate them so that they are able to live their lives with dignity. Addressing unemployment should be a priority.
