Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 10: A delegation of J&K Private Schools Association (PSA) met with Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer regarding the reopening of the schools for physical classes in JKUT in which Director School Education Jammu, Dr Ravi Shanker was also present.
Members present in the meeting discussed number of issues which included the impact in the growth of students due to continuous closure of schools, miseries of all those who are solely dependent on private schools, haplessness of most of private schools owners in paying timely emoluments to the teaching & non-teaching staff along with ESIC, EPFO, Electricity bill, EMI due to insufficient funds etc.
While speaking members said that more than 60 percent of the students are the worst sufferer as they have no access to the digital infrastructure till date although government has opted online modes of education to cope up the academic losses of the students. Granting mass promotion / concession to the students by fixing criteria to promote them in the next higher class is not only fatal for the students but it has also crippled the entire system of education, they added.
To overcome such crisis, president of the association Kamal Gupta demanded restoration of offline class work for all classes in phased manner with Covid Appropriate Behaviour.
Dr Raghav Langer gave patient hearing to the delegation. Considering all pros and cons in consideration, a roadmap was laid out by Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Director School Education Jammu to open the schools physically. According to them in first phase offline classes will be made compulsory with Covid Appropriate Behaviour and with random COVID testing from class 8th to 12th with 50% students, in second phase offline class will be compulsory for the students of class 6th & 7th with 50% strength with strict compliance of Covid Appropriate Behaviour.
For the students of class 1st to 5th there will be no restriction, they can attend the offline classes voluntarily with strict compliance of Covid Appropriate Behaviour & with proper consent of their parents.
Divisional Commissioner gave assurance to delegation for the restoration of physical classes as early as possible after approval of the proposed roadmap from the State Executive Committee (SEC) in next meeting for the larger interest of the society.
The members who attended the meeting included Rameshwar Mengi (Vice President), Ajay Gupta (General Secretary, JKPSA), Sanjeev Luthra (Member Central Body), Ajay Singh (Member Central Body), RP Sharma (Distt President, Udhampur), Sat Pal Mansotra (Distt President, Kathua) and Naresh Kumar (Gen Secy Kathua).
