| JK Govt reiterates ban on sale of books, uniforms in private schools | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 10: Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday reiterated ban on sale of books and uniforms within the school premises or prescribed shops asserted that stern action would be taken against those who would be found indulging in such business.
A press statement issued from the Directorate of School Education said that some recognized private schools are defying the government orders by indulging in sale of books and uniforms in the school premises even forcing parents to purchase books from the specific shops.
“This practice is against the instructions already issued through communications”, the statement said and added “anybody found indulging in such business would be dealt with by the relevant law of the land”. The government has once again enjoined upon all the private recognized schools to desist from compelling the parents to purchase books and uniforms from any particular shop or change of books from the prescribed shops. All books and Uniforms should be made available from open markets, it said.
“Any school found indulging and deviating from the instructions provided by the government shall be viewed as a serious crime and action would be taken as per the provisions of the law including de-recognitions of the school and withdrawal of NOC”, the statement warned.
The authorities have directed all Education officers to constitute special monitoring teams to verify the complaints received on account of sale of books and uniforms by the private Schools in the valley. |
