Restore statehood, PRCs before assembly polls: Taranjit Tony | | | Early Times Report SUCHETGARH, Nov 10: DDC member Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony today asked the central dispensation to restore the statehood of J&K and Permanent Resident Certificate Law before conducting the assembly polls. In a statement, Tony said that there is no fun in conducting elections before announcing statehood back to J&K as it will create confusion, marring the democratic process once again in J&K. He alleged that the Government of India is discriminating J&K as it has restored PRCs in Ladakh but in the case of the J&K it is denying this right to the people. He said that central dispensation's hypocrisy has been exposed on many counts as like PRC the government has also given a long rope to people of Ladakh by envisaging exclusive excise policy for them and in case of J&K, it is reluctant and has allowed outside players to capture the liquor business of genuine people who were carrying out this business for the last several decades. He said that the J&K administration has been working against the people of J&K as it has dislodged the well established people of liquor trade who are now on the roads and in many cases have become jobless and even penniless. He also demanded that government should secure jobs for the residents of J&K on the pattern of Ladakh. He demanded that the government should come out with a comprehensive bail-out programme to save the dying transport industry which is on the verge of collapse in J&K. Tony appealed to the government for organizing multiple entrepreneurship fairs and awareness camps in rural pockets of the UT to disseminate information about vistas of opportunities available for the youth to set up smaller industrial units and become job providers rather than remaining job seekers. He said that the Industries Department should act as a beacon of light to evolve mechanisms to engage young blood in entrepreneurship as this can change the development profile of the region, especially rural hamlets. Tony also appealed to the government to ask the Directorate of Animal and Sheep Husbandry to organize such Melas and involve more people in self-employment schemes. He said that the need of the time is to work together to ensure the success of the PM's Make in India campaign in J&K also. He urged the LG Manoj Sinha to ask the bankers not to create hurdles in self employment schemes rather they should help the youth in getting funds and loans for setting up units to flourish their business and move towards prosperity and peace.
