Thief posing as cop arrested by Kishtwar Police, stolen items recovered

KISHTWAR, Nov 11: In a major success, police managed to arrest a thief posing as a cop with an aim to dodge the general public. Stolen items were recovered at the disclosure of the arrested person.
While divulging details to Early Times Dy SP HQ Kishtwar Satish Kumar informed that a complaint was lodged at P/S Kishtwar by one person namely Sameer Ahmed Kichloo S/O Nazir Ahmed Kichloo R/O Pochhal Kishtrwar stating therein that some unknown thieves entered his shop in the night and stole away some cash, groceries & some quantity of saffron adding that on this case FIR No. 226/2021 U/S 457/380 IPC got registered at P/S Kishtwar and investigation was started.
He said that a special team was constituted by SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Batt. -JKPS. The team rounded up many suspects for questioning with the aid of technical assistance, CCTV footages of the area and analysis of CDR /tower location ,dump data, etc-the suspect was zeroed in.
After strenuous efforts the team finally managed to nab the accused person involved in the commission of crime, who was put to sustained interrogation and during the investigation he confessed/ admitted his involvement and commission of theft. On the disclosure of the accused, recovery of stolen property has been affected from his house.
The accused has been identified as Chetak Sharma S/o Shiv Raj Sharma R/o Doori Sarthal Kishtwar. The police recovered Saffron valuing Rs. 50,000, Cash of Rs. 6,000, two mobiles, police uniform, iron rod and motorcycle (Pulsar)JK03B 1575.
