Anantnag, Nov 11: National Flag, which was hoisted on office building of Municipal Committee Pahalgam earlier this year, has been allegedly removed by the municipality officials, ET learnt on Thursday. According to reports, the National Flag was removed by municipality employees on the verbal instructions of Executive Officer Pahalgam Municipal Committee. “We don’t know why it was removed may be they are going dry-clean the flag,” an employee told Early Times over phone, however wished anonymity. Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pahalgam Mir Tavfeez admitted that they removed the National Flag. “This National Flag was provided to us by a local CRPF unit. They required it as some senior officer was visiting them but as of now they have returned it,” he said. Across Jammu and Kashmir, the National Flag was hoisted on all government buildings and establishments. A circular issued in this regard by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir reads: “The Indian national flag represents hope and aspiration of the people of India. It is a symbol of our national pride. There is universal affection and respect for, and loyalty to the national flag,” “As such it is enjoined upon all the Deputy Commissioners / Head of Departments / Directors of Kashmir Division to ensure hoisting of national flag on all government buildings/offices on all days and occasions, ceremonial or otherwise with the dignity and honor of national flag,” it adds. |
