Early Times Report
BILLAWAR, Nov 11: Government Degree College (GDC) Billawar celebrated National Education Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of India's first Education Minister, freedom-fighter, Scholar and Eminent Educationist Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. His work to establish a national education system is among his greatest contributions to the democratic state that India operates today.
Prof Anita Jamwal, Principal of the college said, Azad is noted as one of the pioneering drives behind India's economic and societal development. This year's theme for National Education Day is "Skill Awareness and Empowerment" especially in the light of NEP-2020 as by bringing skill awareness and sense of empowerment earlier on in their education, learners can then have a better say in where they take the next stage of their lives, whether it is higher education at college or university or further education via an apprenticeship scheme or vocational education and training. This programme was conducted by Prof Pinkey. Principal Anita Jamwal was chief guest on this occasion.
GDC, Billawar celebrated National Education Day in overall supervision of Prof Anita Jamwal principal of the college by paying floral tribute and remembering the exemplary contributions of Maulana Azad and Acharya Kripalani in nation building and institution building. Dr Shamim Ahmed Banday, Convener Cultural and Red Ribbon Club thanked the students for their active participation and exhorted that the importance of establishing good communication is critical in student's development and future learning, the foundation pillars being Love, Integrity, Trust, Honesty and Truthfulness.
At the end of the event vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Maqeem. Others who were present on this occasion are Prof Lekh Raj, Prof. Maqeem, Prof Rajni, Prof Pinkey, Prof Arun, Prof Anil, Prof Parshotam, Prof Suram and Vidyalal.
