LFO-BH Foundation organises awareness programme | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 15: LFO-BH Foundation (NGO) today organized a demonstrated project on Women Hygiene Implementation at an Anganwadi Center in Palpora, Srinagar and also covered the near-by slum areas there. The awareness cum distribution programme was conducted on the topic of mensurational hygiene and HIV/AIDS. Around 100 packs of sanitary napkins (bio-degradable) and masks were also distributed in that drive. The motive of this awareness programme was to raise the knowledge about menstrual awareness among young girls and women of that area. The Lecture was delivered by a volunteer of the Organisation namely Arbeena in which she emphasised that “Women would have been the worst hit, as menstrual hygiene is very important to prevent infections. So, it is very important to maintain menstural hygiene to avoid infections and most important is to spread maximum awareness about the importance of Sanitary Napkins. Abreena Ashraf (volunteer)also added, “At any given time, girls across India cannot afford sanitary napkins. Instead they use cloth and other unhygienic materials that increase their risk of contracting infections. It is estimated that over 80% of all women in India do not have access to sanitary products during menstruation.” The volunteers present in this distribution cum awareness program were Maroofa Shah, Sumaira, Afreen, Bazila, Hamzah and many others. |
