Basohli, Nov 15: Under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Department of Zoology, Government College, Basohli organised an online lecture on the occasion of “World’s Diabetes Day”. The event was organised under the patronage of Dr. Nidhi Kotwal, Principal of the College and proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr. Shivam Jasrotia, Organizing Secretary of the event. In the welcome address, Dr. Jasrotia briefed about the event and introduced the resource person, Dr. Shiv Kumar for his talk. Dr. Kumar delivered a detailed lecture on the topic “The Science Behind Diabetes Mellitus”. In his lecture, Dr. Kumar highlighted the major types of diabetes, insulin action mechanism, symptoms and management through various methods. He also added that healthy dietary and active workout regimens aids in reverting normal glucose levels in the body. Besides, Dr. R. K. Manhas also urged the students to avoid unhealthy food stuffs and excessive sedentary life style in order to remain fit and healthy. The lecture was followed by the interactive session, wherein, queries from the faculty members and students were effectively addressed by the resource person. In the concluding remarks, Dr. Kotwal applauded the efforts of the organising team for arranging such an informative lecture and providing an interactive platform for the students. |
