Jammu, Nov 15: The Department of Punjabi of Government Degree College Bishnah has organised a week long National Workshop from 15-20 November on the topic “Idiom Proverbs and Riddles of Punjabi Folk Literature: Exploring the Rich Tradition of Cultural Wisdom.” This Week-long workshop is divided into two sessions. The morning session will discuss the theoretical aspects of the idiom, proverbs and riddles by Dr Pawan Tibba, Punjabi folklore researcher and lecturer, Northern Regional Language Centre, Patiala. The lectures of the afternoon session will be delivered by two resource persons. Janab Khalid Hussain, who is a Punjabi short story writer from Jammu and Kashmir. He has extensively use Akhaans in his short stories. His journey as a writer and storyteller embodies the journey of Akhaans. The second resource person of the afternoon session is Antarneerav. He is a Pothowari, Punjabi poet from Poonch, who will explore the psychological aspects of the Akaan. Under the guidance of Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal GDC Bishnah who is also workshop chair, this is the second national workshop in the year 2021. According to her, this workshop is designed to extend the scope of the curriculum of the undergraduate programmes of Jammu University. This workshop is an endeavour to invite students, teacher, literature lovers, writers, poets and folklorist on a single online platform to have intellectual interaction on one of the most important components of folk literature. The initiative of organising such workshop was taken by the head of the department of Punjabi Dr RandheerKour. And the students of the general Punjabi and Communication Punjabi namely Pooja, Gurpreet, Jasleen, Renu, Amitoz, Omkar, Guvleen and Rasgeet are coordinators of this workshop. This workshop will conclude on 20th November 2021. |
