National Tribal Pride Day Pahari tribe celebrates | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 15: A large number of persons belonging to Pahari Tribe gathered and celebrated this at Jammu under the aegis of All J&K Pahari Tribe Joint Forum. Everyone appreciated the decision of Central Government to celebrate “National Tribal Pride Day - The Janjatiya Gaurav Divas” so that the future generations can know about the great sacrifices of brave tribal community people in the freedom struggle of our country. A rich tribute was paid to Birsa Munda (a tribal, national freedom fighter) alongwith the native Pahari tribal - martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in defending our nation’s border, anti Terrorist operations and neutralizing the security threats. The members of Pahari Tribe highlighted the rich glorious Cultural heritage of their Tribe. The Pahari tribals reiterated their long pending demand seeking the grant of Scheduled Tribe Status in favor of the Paharis in J&K. It is pertinent to mention that considering the upcoming winter session of the Parliament is schedule to be held from 29th of November, and the deprived Pahari tribe is hopeful that parliamentarians of our great nation will understand the plight of Pahari tribals by bringing and passing the bill in favour of Pahari tribe granting them ST Status. All those present made fervent appeal the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Home Minister of India, that despite many recommendations and assurances since 1989, no decision has been taken so far for granting “Schedule Tribe” status to the deserving Pahari tribe.
