"PCC President GA Mir Played Major Role in Reviving Congress in J&K after 2014": Sawhney
11/17/2021 11:30:52 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 17: Senior Congress leader and Former Minister J&K on Wednesday reacted strongly to the recent resignation of certain Congress members from their posts in protest against incumbent PCC President GA Mir and stated that 'those who have resigned have done so because of their personal and selfish interests, adding that, 'after the loss suffered by the party in 2014 elections, GA Mir as PCC President has played a major role in reviving the Congress party in J&K through his relentless efforts to implement AICC programs and reach out to the people in every nook and corner'. He said that the members who have resigned should have a long hard look in the mirror before throwing out blames because for the last few years they have been completely inactive in party programs and they sit out mostly all-important meetings, efforts and initiatives. Sawhney also openly challenged these members to show any work that they have done for or with the party in the last few years.
Further speaking out on the matter, he stated that the Congress party has been very active in Jammu and Kashmir and does not shy away from raising any important issues, be it farmers' rights, excessive price rise of petrol, diesel, essential commodities or others. He said that a major portion of the credit for all the work being done in Jammu province alone including protests, agitation programmes, awareness programmes goes to Jb. GA Mir. Jammu-centric issues have also been given equal importance and attention in the political scenario by the Congress party because of his efforts. But if some political persons refrain from taking part in the party's efforts, then there is no one to blame but them. As for now, their grievances and arguments carry no weight or matter and have no solid basis, because the reality is the opposite of what they're suggesting. The party has been vigorously conducting successful programs and garnering people's support day in and day out. These programmes are always held with the participation of all party cadres, office bearers, ward presidents, block presidents, and others and all are intimated about important meetings so if some leaders choose to stay out, it is their prerogative and they should bear its consequences, said Sawhney.
"What ground realities are they talking about?", Sawhney inquires. 'Those who themselves have not been in touch with the ground reality, how can they claim to 'apprise top leadership' about its issues? The issues they're talking about are hollow and made-up. They haven't conducted a single outreach programme with the people, or with local ward presidents, block presidents, and such, apart from their clique, how can they claim to know the ground reality.
The situation they are presenting is to paint a weak picture of the Congress party and in doing so, they are undermining AICC leadership as well by showing the party in a bad light in front of the public. However, despite these attempts, they cannot easily disrupt the constructive political work that is being done by the party in Jammu and Kashmir under the guidance of the PCC President. Under this leadership, the Congress party has strongly registered its strong protest against the failures of the BJP government, highlighting the unprecedented price hike, joblessness, economic crisis and various other issues concerning common people under BJP rule. We have urged the people to join Congress Party in the fight against the Centre’s anti-people policies, misrule and mismanagement and will continue to do so.
Sawhney further stressed that it is only some people who want to divide the Congress party to promote their political goals and objectives and use such tactics for this purpose. Sawhney accused these political leaders of keeping their own selfish and personal interests ahead of those of the party. They have shown zero participation in any initiatives of the Congress party. They are sole to be blamed for their lack of involvement in party work and their attempt to gain the limelight by attacking the PCC President should be seen for what it is. Otherwise, Jb. Mir has to be credited to a great extent for the revival of the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir after the 2014 loss, he said. The former Minister added that the party is making long strides towards its goals through grassroots planning and implementation, vast outreach programmes, mass awareness projects, contact campaigns and robust agitation programs. The incumbent PCC President plays a significant role in all these initiatives and policies of the party which help us garner people's support and raise awareness among the people about government blunders.
