Kaith Biradari members pay obeisance to Sankri Devta at Jhiri

JAMMU, Nov 20: The Kaith Biradari organised a religious programme at Jhiri where the Biradari members who came in large number paid obeisance to their ancestral spirit: Sankri Devta and sought his benevolent blessings for the welfare of their families.They also partook Prasad from the Bhandara.
Biradari leaders said Sankri Devta is an important male deity who is worshipped at various places in Jammu once or twice a year. He is believed to be protector of the Kaith families and fulfils their wishes. Biradari leaders appealed to the Biradari members to eradicate social evils prevalent in the Biradari which have resulted in weakening it and creating a sense of inferiority complex and inadequacy in its members.
Besides, the entire Biradari remembered Late Subedar Gian Chand and Punnu Ram, who contributed tirelessly in all aspects of voluntary service whether it was practical assistance to others or Biradari activities or raising funds for charity.
Those who participated in the programme included Municipal Councillor Krishan Lal, Dr Ramesh Kumar, Honorary Captain Chand, Dy SP (Retd) Krishan Lal, Panch Joginder Lal, Daya Ram, Rachpal Ram, R.L.Kaith, Shiv Ram, Bawa Ditta, Madan Lal, Tilak Raj, Birendra Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Karan Kumar, Ved Parkash, Om Parkash and Surinder Kumar.
