Verinag (Anantnag) Nov 20: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President (JKPCC) Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Saturday said that Central Congress Disciplinary Action Committee will decide the fate of those leaders who violated party protocol and made public their grievances through media instead of approaching the appropriate forum in the party.
“Congress is united and due to inner democracy everyone here can put forward their grievances. Even those issues and grievances are addressed subject to the condition they are taken to an appropriate forum. Few colleagues here violated party protocol and approached the media instead of the party. This matter will go to the Disciplinary Committee and this committee will decide whether they did right or wrong,” G A Mir told reporters at Omoh Verinag after addressing a gathering.
He was accompanied by Party senior leader and former Minister Raman Bhalla, former MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani and others.
As reported earlier, the Disciplinary Action Committee has in fact taken cognizance of the matter and sought details from the J & K Congress unit.
Sources said that 2-3 leaders including a former MLC will face the action as he forged the signatures of several congress leaders and feigned ignorance about having signed the letter which was later leaked to the media.
The Azad Loyalists also received a major setback after incumbent Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi dropped Ghulam Nabi Azad from the Disciplinary Action Committee.
The omission of Azad came a day after at least 20 J&K Congress leaders considered close to him resigned from their party positions to press for a leadership change in Jammu and Kashmir. These included former ministers G M Saroori, Vikar Rasool and Dr Manohar Lal Sharma; former legislators Jugal Kishore Sharma, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Naresh Gupta, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Subash Gupta; State Congress vice-president Anwar Bhat, and Kulgam District Development Council member Anyatullah Rather.
“We don’t accept Ghulam Ahmad Mir as Congress president for J&K. there is no accountability and his performance from last few years is disastrous,” X-MLA Vikar Rasool told media
Ghulam Nabi Azad, a CWC member, is part of the G23 — the group that wrote to Sonia demanding sweeping changes in the party structure. Off late, in Kashmir rumors suggest that Ghulam Nabi Azad may float his own political party as he stands completely sidelined at national level.
