Jat Maha Sabha terms repeal of farm laws as victory of farmers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 20: All India Jat MahaSabha welcomed the step taken by the Central Govt headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for repealing the three farm laws. In a statement issued here, Ch Manmohan Singh, President of the Jat Maha Sabha termed it as the victory of farmers. However, the Jat leader expressed grief over the loss of more than 750 lives in the 14-month long agitation. He said that the Prime Minister has shown sagacity by announcing the repeal of the farm laws and now the need of the time is that deceased farmers should be given justice by extending adequate compensation to their families and a government job to one member. He said that the Prime Minister should show a big heart by ensuring welfare of the families who lost their bread earners in the protest against these contentious laws and nod for the government jobs to their kin and appropriate relief. Ch Manmohan Singh also appealed to the Prime Minister for taking a quick decision on fixing Minimum Support Price (MSP) to deliver justice to the farmers and end the stalemate once and for all. He said that the government should not waste more time in deciding the quantum of other reliefs and appropriate MSP because the farmers are already reeling under hardships and their sustenance has become really hard. "It is the right time that PM Modi should give directions to the concerned to ensure that no farmer has to face any difficulty and they get adequate compensation for the losses incurred due to more than year long protests that disrupted their lives badly and inflicted big financial losses," he added. |
