Rollback of farm laws reflects PM's magnanimous character: Kavinder | Condemns demolition drive of JMC | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 20: Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement to repeal three farm laws, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today said repealing the laws has once again highlighted the magnanimous character of the dynamic Prime Minister. The senior BJP leader said that it has been more than a year since the Central Government brought three agriculture laws for the benefit of farmers, especially the small and marginal ones, but unfortunately, some farmer unions had been protesting on the Delhi borders against these farmer welfare laws for the reason best known to them. "Today yet again, Narendra Modi while preferring the larger public interest announced to repeal these laws despite the fact that, soon after the introduction of these laws, a large number of farmers had considered these laws beneficial for them and had also appreciated the Central government for the farmers' welfare legislation," he added. The former Dy CM asserted that this decision of the Prime Minister proves beyond doubt that keeping the interest of the public was paramount for him in announcing the rollback of these laws in the upcoming session of Parliament. "In line with the Prime Minister's call, I would also urge the farmers sitting on Delhi borders to immediately end their protest and return to their homes especially in view of the fact that the common man continues to face the brunt on account of multiple difficulties due to this agitation. After PM's announcement the farmers should display sanity by adopting positive attitude on this resolved issue," he said. Meanwhile, while responding to the demolition of shop at Shiva Ji Chowk by the Jammu Municipal Corporation, Kavinder Gupta said that the officials of the corporation can't be so negligent and careless while carrying out demolition arbitrarily and later stating that it was a case of mistaken identity of the shop or building. He said that the traders have already suffered a lot on account of lockdowns and curfews due to Corona and multiplying their woes due to negligence of some persons of the local body is highly condemnable and intolerable. He said that equity demands that JMC must compensate the victim trader for the tremendous loss caused by its negligence. |
