Repeal of farm laws is defeat of BJP's arrogance, ego: Sawhney | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 20: Former Minister J&K and senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney held a press conference on Saturday commenting on the repeal of the three farm laws by the Union Government hailing the victory of the farmers' struggle supported by a Congress-led Opposition. Addressing the press conference, Sawhney called the decision of the Union Government a "historic victory" for the farmers and the Opposition, and stated that it is a testament to the immense power that people hold if they come together against an arrogant and despotic government. The fight of the Congress party alongside our farmer brothers has finally culminated in defeat of Modi Government and has brought an end to these Black Laws. 'It is a defeat of the arrogance, ego and hollow pride of the BJP Government. And It is the victory of the farmers. However, Sawhney added, the fight does not end here because the Government's moves in the past has resulted in 700 Indian Farmers loosing their lives, many were injured, thousands came to the streets, away from their families for months at a time, and yet Prime Minister Modi in his address expressed no remorse and gave no apology. Sawhney stated that the repeal of the farm laws is the victory of the Indian farmers over the arrogance and ego of the BJP Government. Their arrogance had crossed all heights when the rolled out these black laws which posed a threat to the livelihoods of our farmers. This move shows that anti-farmer BJP Government has lost in front of the farmers. After a long and hard struggle of the farmers that lasted 12 months, BJP government and an arrogant Prime Minister Modiji had to bend to the will and wishes of our farmers. But the nation will not forget the hardships they first imposed on farmers, the barricades that stopped them, and the lathis that were showered on our annadata. The people have realised now that the defeat of BJP is the victory of public welfare, victory of the farmers, victory of the shopkeepers, and victory of the nation, he said. The former Minister posed five questions infront of the BJP government saying that although they have repealed the farm laws, these questions still remain. First, he said, 'when will the BJP government address the issue of Minimum Support Prices (MSP) and prepare a well-structured and farmer-centric roadmap for implementing MSP?'. 'Second', he continued, 'The BJP had formed the government with the promise of doubling the farmers' income by 2022. Instead, according to the data of National Statistical Office GoI the farmers earnings fell to ?27 per day. |
