Promotion of co-operatives vital for rural economy: Director Animal Husbandry | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 20: A meeting under the Chairmanship of Director Animal Husbandry Department Jammu, Dr. Sagar D. Doifode was held today. The Director said that the promotion of co-operatives is vital for rural economy to progress especially small and marginal farmers, weaker sections and women. Citing the model of AMUL, he said hat dairy is one such sector which can develop immensely if pursued on the pattern of co-operative societies thus helping in improving the income levels of associated dairy farmers and achieving rural prosperity. He impressed that officials from the Department of Co-operatives and Animal Husbandry Department should work in collaboration to achieve maximum registrations of dairy farmers under the ambit of Milk-Cooperative Societies. The Director said that the Department of Animal Husbandry Jammu is running various welfare schemes for the dairy farmers benefitting vast population across the districts in Jammu province. He directed the Chief Animal Husbandry officers to share the details of such beneficiaries with the respective Deputy Registrar Cooperatives so as to enable them to register more and more dairy farmers. |
