General Category People Front celebrates birth anniversary of Rani Laxmi Bai

JAMMU, Nov 20: General Category People Front, Jammu Kashmir (GCPF-JK) under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia paid rich tributes to Ram Laxmi Bai and celebrated her 193rd birth anniversary. In the programme Prof. Yash Paul Sanson, President, Som Nath Sharma, General Secretary V K Sharma, Bhushan Pargal both Vice-Presidents, Deepak Khajuria, Suresh Kumar, both Secretaries along with Dr. Bansi Lal, Gopal Dass Verma and others paid rich tributes to Rani.
Jagdish Dogra prominent trade union leader and ex-president Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Jammu was the chief guest. Prof. Sanson said that Rani was a significant figure during India’s war of independence, during 1857 war of independence, she one of the leading freedom fighters.
Sharma said that Rani has an important place in the history of the country and her bravery could not be forgotten by generations.
V K Sharma said that Rani’s contribution towards the independence of India is unparallel. Her love for her people courage and bravery infused patriotism, courage and energy into the freedom struggle which was the need of the hour at that time. We, the Indians are indebted to her role as freedom fighter who sacrificed everything for India.
Dogra threw light on the history of independence and the role of Rani. He said that Rani was born on 19th November 1828 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in a Maratha Brahmin family. Her name was Manikarnika. When she was four year old, her mother expired and she was brought up by her father. She married to Gandhar Rao. She was an epitome of valour, wisdom, courage, determination and patriotism. She was a towering figure during India’s war of independence. She became a leading freedom fighter during 1857first war of independence against British.
