JAMMU, Nov 20: ‘Salal Iconic Day’ was organized by NHPC Salal Power Station (690 MW) on completion of 34 years of commissioning of its power station under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. NHPC personnel along with the local people participated enthusiastically. Saraf Singh Nag, DDC chairman, attended as the chief guest, as well as Ajay Nanda, former MLA and minister from Reasi district, Jagjivan Lal, DDC member and former MLA and minister, SSP Reasi Shailendra Singh, Regional Labor Commissioner from DFO Reasi, army officers from 14 RR of Indian Army and Heads of Departments and public representatives from various villages graced the program by attending the event. Rajan Kumar, Executive Director, NHPC Jammu specially participated in the program. “A short film by Salal” was also released during the event. Information was given to the people about the development works being done by Salal Power Station in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the journey from Salal to Kishanganga was also shown. Head of Salal Power Station N. Ram welcomed everyone and thanked them with a memento of Salal's iconic day. He said that about the target of 50,000 MW for NHPC till 2040 given by Union Minister of Power R K Singh. He also described the efforts of NHPC under the leadership of CMD, A K Singh. Nag dwelled about the contribution of NHPC in the development of the entire country. He described the role of NHPC inflowing the stream of development in the inaccessible hilly areas. The program was concluded with lunch for all the attendees. In the said program, the adherence to the COVID-19 protocol was also ensured. |
