National & International Footballers Forum lambast JKFA for its ‘failure’ | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 20: National & International Footballers Forum (NIFF) today accused the Jammu Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) of bringing bad name to the game of football in Jammu & Kashmir. The Forum said that the girls of the union territory have been deprived to take part in senior nationals. Addressing a press conference here today, the office bearers of NIFF said that girls have been deprived to be part their own team which they would have dreamt of. They said the development came few days back at Jammu where JKFA had conducted open selection trials followed by a short coaching camp in which players from Haryana were seen taking part in the trials. “It has come to our notice that a female coach who is working outside J&K had called girls from Haryana to be part of J&K senior team. This has been with the consent of JKFA without looking at the future of our own girls. Our women’s football is already lacking in every aspect and lot of work needs to be done to uplift them but this is very unfortunate to hear that JKFA has taken such steps that will further demoralize the women players of J&K to take part in football,” said advisor NIFF Jammu and former international footballer Ramesh Chander. Ramesh said that the issue will be taken up at the highest level and will not allow them to play with future of girls involved with football. He said that the statement from General Secretary JKFA claiming that the decision of inclusion of outside J&K players was taken due to the non availability of local players shows the failure of JKFA. The Forum urged advisor Farooq Khan & secretary Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council to look into the matter of grave injustice to the players of J&K.
