| J&K’s unemployment rate highest in country | | |

Jammu, Nov 29: Unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir is the highest among all states and union territories in the country.
According to the figures presented by the government in the Lok Sabha unemployment level is declining at all India level.
In 2017-18 the unemployment rate was 6% at national level. In 2018-19 it fell down to 5.8% and in 2019-20 it declined to 4.8%.
However, in J&K unemployment rate has increased, in 2017 J&K’s unemployment rate stood at 5.4%, in 2018-19 it was 5.1% but in 2019-20 it has reached 6.7% and these figures were dished out by the government in Lok Sabha.
Similarly when PM Kaushal Yojana was launched for the empowerment of women in J&K in 2018-19, according to the government figures, 17332 females were trained and 10,000 were placed. In 2019-20, 51000 women were trained but only 5841 were placed.
In 2020-21, 23000 females were trained and only 3287 were placed. In 2020-21, 565 females were trained and placement was zero. An observer while talking to Early Times said, “The tall claims of the government to provide employment by inviting big companies to J&K and enhancing the skills of people are not proving that effective as the unemployment figures are on rise in the newly carved out Union Territory.” |
