GDC Ramnagar organizes seminar on HIV/AIDS | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAMNAGAR, Dec 2: On World Aids Day, the Red Ribbon Club and NSS unit in coordination with IQAC Unit of Govt Degree College, Ramnagar organized a two-day long seminar on HIV/AIDS, its awareness, prevention and control. The programme was sponsored by J&K Science Technology & Innovative Council, Department of Science and Technology, Udhampur. Principal, Dr Udhey Bhanu was the chief guest on the occasion and Dr Mahboob Khan (BMO sub-district Hospital Ramnagar) was the resource person. Principal of the college, while speaking on the occasion, stressed upon the need for awareness about AIDS and its prevention. Thereafter, the resource person delivered a lecture among the students and made them aware of HIV/AIDS issues and drug menace to increase HIV infection. After the lecture a poster making competition related to HIV/AIDS awareness was organized in which more than 28 students took part. In the poster making competition, the best poster judged by the jury was Neha Thakur (Ist prize), Neeti Mehra (2nd) and Laiba Bandy (3rd), Arun Sharma and Vidhushi Dhiman bagged consolation prizes. The jury members were Prof Brinder Kumar (HOD Zoology), Prof Ritika Mahajan (HOD Chemistry) and Prof Divya Puri (HOD Psychology). On the second day, Principal of the College, Dr Udhay Bhanu flagged off the AIDS awareness rally to mark the World AIDS Day which started from GDC Ramnagar and culminated at Bus Stand Ramnagar. The programme was coordinated by Prof Ritika Mahajan (NSS Programme Officer), Dr Hari Singh (Red Ribbon Club), Prof Divya Puri and Prof Suresh Chander. |
