“Joint parties of Baramulla Police, Army 29 RR and 2nd Bn SSB, while patrolling in the area, established a mobile vehicle check point (MVCP)/naka at Wussan Pattan this morning. Three individuals were spotted moving towards the naka party in a suspicious manner. On spotting the Naka, they started running in the fields, but were apprehended by the party,” the statement issued by the Jammu and Kashmir police said.
These individuals were identified as Asif Ahmad Reshi, Mehrajudin Dar and Faisal Habib Lone, all residents of Gund Jehangir, Hajin, District Bandipora.
“Upon sustained interrogation and technical leads, the three were found to be OGWs/terror associates of banned terror organisation LET/TRF involved in Palhalan grenade attack that took place on November 17,” it added.
Two grenades were recovered from them, he said.
“Investigation revealed that the accused were given instructions by the terrorists across the border and the aim behind the attacks was to create an atmosphere of fear & chaos and to draw a negative reaction against Kashmiri youth outside the Union Territory,” said the statement added.
All leads are being chased as further investigation is underway, police said.
